Edge-Diffraction Impulse Responses Near Specular-Zone and Shadow-Zone Boundaries
Many methods for the computation of edge-diffraction impulse responses are based on the Biot-Tolstoy solution, an explicit, continuous-time expression for diffraction by an infinite wedge. This expression contains two singularities at the onset of the impulse response: one which is present for all source-receiver combinations, and a second which occurs only when a receiver moves across a specul...
متن کاملNUMERICAL MODELING OF DIFFRACTION THROUGH A BREAKWATER GAP
Wave diffraction is a very important phenomenon in marine engineering and several models have been developed for its simulation. The new version of SWAN, a third generation spectral model, includes an approximation to wave diffraction. The approximation is based on the mild-slope equation for refraction and diffraction, omitting phase information. The objective this paper is to evaluate the per...
متن کاملGeneralized Impulse Responses
This note discusses how to compute generalized impulse responses and their asymptotic distribution. The results I present are essentially vector versions of what has already been shown by, e.g., Pesaran and Shin (1998). The value added is therefore measurable in terms of providing simpler algorithms for writing the computer code needed to make use of generalized impulse responses in practise.
متن کاملModel-Free Impulse Responses
This paper introduces methods for computing impulse response functions that do not require specification and estimation of the unknown dynamic multivariate system itself. The central idea behind these methods is to estimate flexible local projections at each period of interest rather than extrapolating into increasingly distant horizons from a given model, as it is usually done in vector autore...
متن کاملNumerical Evaluation of Diffraction Integrals
This paper describes a simple numerical integration method for diffraction integrals which is based on elementary geometrical considerations of the manner in which different portions of the incident wavefront contribute to the diffracted field. The method is applicable in a wide range of cases as the assumptions regarding the type of integral are minimal, and the results are accurate even when ...
